Minor Signup & Parental Authorisation

The two-step flow for users aged 13 to 17 and the parent or guardian authorizing access.

Version: 1.0.0Last updated: April 17, 2026

Who this is for

Users aged 13 to 17 and their parent or guardian. Users under 13 cannot sign up for menthra under any circumstance.

Step 1 — for the minor

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • A parent or legal guardian must authorize your account.
  • Your conversations are private. Your parent cannot read them.
  • Your parent will see whether you've been using menthra and how often — not what you talked about.
  • If menthra detects a crisis signal, your parent will be alerted — this is how we keep you safe.
  • You can export or delete your data any time after you turn 18 without parental involvement.

Step 2 — for the parent or guardian

  • You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of the minor.
  • You authorize the minor to use menthra under the terms of the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • You understand that conversation content is private to the minor. You will see status, engagement metrics, and crisis alerts — not conversation content.
  • You can revoke authorization at any time, which closes the minor's account.
  • We will verify your identity via email confirmation and (where required by law) an additional verification method.

Why we're asking

COPPA (US), DPDP (India), and GDPR Article 8 (EU/UK) require verifiable parental consent for minors under specific age thresholds. We meet the strictest applicable standard.

If consent isn't given

The minor cannot use menthra. No account is created and no data is retained from the signup attempt.

How to change your mind

Either the minor or the parent can email privacy@menthra.ai to close the account. Parental revocation is final. See Your Rights.
